Delete your account

This page explains how to delete your Hey account and the personal data associated with it. Hey is operated by Hey Hello Ltd.. You can delete your account directly in the app, or request deletion using the form below if you no longer have the app installed.

Faster option: you do not need to reinstall the app.

You can sign in from any browser at https://app.sayheynow.com/ with your phone number and delete your account yourself, from Settings > Account > Delete Account. This starts the deletion immediately, without waiting for us to verify a request. The same 30-day period described below still applies.

Use the form below if you would rather not sign in, or if signing in does not work for you.

Two ways to delete your account

• In the app. Open Settings > Account > Delete Account and follow the prompts. This is the fastest route and does not require this form.
• On this page. If you have uninstalled the app or cannot sign in, complete the deletion request form below and we will process it for you.

What gets deleted

When your account is deleted, we permanently remove the personal data we hold about you, including:

• your profile and account details (name, date of birth, gender, and other profile fields);
• your photos;
• your location history;
• your messages;
• your authentication record (the phone-number sign-in for the account).

This mirrors Section 9 of our Privacy Policy.

What is retained, why, and for how long

A limited amount of information may be kept after your account is deleted, only where we have a specific reason to. This is the same as set out in Section 7 of our Privacy Policy:

Note: activity and usage logs are retained for up to 18 months and then deleted, as described in the Privacy Policy. We keep only what is necessary, and for no longer than necessary.

What happens after you submit a request

Submitting this form does not delete your account by itself. It opens a request. Because we cannot verify your identity from this page alone, and because a deletion carried out on the wrong account cannot be undone, every request goes through the steps below.

• 1. Verification. Within 5 business days we contact the phone number registered to the account to confirm the request came from you. If we cannot reach you, or the number does not match an account, we reply to the email address you gave us and the request does not proceed.
• 2. Deletion begins. Once we have confirmed your identity, we deactivate the account. Your profile stops appearing to other users immediately. The 30-day period described in Section 9 of our Privacy Policy starts at this point - not when you submitted this form.
• 3. Cancelling. During those 30 days you can stop the deletion by signing back in to your account. If you have uninstalled the app, you can still sign in from a browser at https://app.sayheynow.com/ using the same phone number. Signing in restores the account in full.
• 4. Permanent deletion. After 30 days, your profile, photos, location history, messages and authentication record are permanently deleted. This step cannot be reversed, and we cannot recover the account or its contents afterwards. Some limited information is retained where the law requires it or for community safety, as set out in Section 7 of our Privacy Policy.

Identity verification

We will contact the phone number registered to the account to confirm the request before anything is deleted. This protects you against someone else requesting deletion of your account. Deletion is permanent and irreversible once the 30-day period has passed.

Use this form if you no longer have the app installed or cannot sign in. Provide the phone number registered to the account so we can verify and locate it.
