Community Guidelines

Last updated: July 16, 2026

Hey is a place to meet real people nearby - to date, to make friends, and to build your network. For that to work, everyone needs to feel safe and respected. These Guidelines explain what we expect from you and what will get you removed. They are part of our Terms of Service.

If you see behaviour that breaks these rules, report it - every profile and chat has a report option. You can also block anyone, at any time.

Be real

  • Be yourself.Use your own photos and real information. No impersonation, no fake profiles, no pretending to be someone you're not.
  • One account per person.
  • 18+. Hey is only for adults. If you believe someone is under 18, report them - we act on these reports quickly.

Be respectful

  • Treat others the way you'd want to be treated. A "no" - or no reply - is an answer. Respect it.
  • No harassment, threats, bullying, or intimidation.
  • No hate speech or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic.
  • No stalking or unwanted, repeated contact.

Keep it appropriate

  • No nudity or sexually explicit content in profiles or public areas.
  • No violent, graphic, or disturbing content.
  • No content that promotes self-harm, eating disorders, or dangerous behaviour.

Keep it safe and honest

  • No solicitation or spam.Don't use Hey to sell things, promote a business, run scams, or push people to other platforms for commercial reasons.
  • No sharing of other people's private information without their consent.
  • No illegal activity of any kind, including anything involving minors, drugs, weapons, or fraud.

Protect yourself

  • Don't send money or share financial details with anyone you meet on Hey. If someone asks - that's a red flag. Report them.
  • When you meet someone in person, choose a public place and tell a friend where you'll be.
  • Trust your instincts. If something feels off, block and report.

What happens when rules are broken

Depending on the severity, we may:

  • remove content,
  • issue a warning,
  • suspend an account, or
  • permanently remove a user.

Serious violations - especially anything involving safety, minors, or illegal activity - can result in immediate, permanent removal, and we may report the matter to the relevant authorities.

We review reports and take them seriously. We may not always be able to tell you the outcome of a report about someone else, for privacy reasons.

Reporting

To report someone, open their profile or your chat with them and choose Report. To stop someone from contacting or seeing you, choose Block. Blocking is immediate and works in both directions.
