Child Safety Standards

Last updated: July 16, 2026

This page sets out how Hey (operated by Hey Hello Ltd.) works to prevent, detect, and respond to child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). It is published in accordance with Google Play's Child Safety Standards policy and applicable law.

1. Our commitment

Hey Hello Ltd. has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and for child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Hey is a proximity-based social and dating application intended exclusively for adults aged 18 and over. Minors are not permitted to create an account or use the service under any circumstances.

We are committed to keeping Hey free of any content or conduct that sexually exploits, abuses, or endangers children, and to acting swiftly when we become aware of it.

2. Scope

These standards apply to:

  • All users of the Hey application on all platforms;
  • All user-generated content on Hey, including profiles, photos, and messages;
  • All interactions between users facilitated by Hey.

3. Definitions

  • CSAE (Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation): content or behaviour that sexually exploits, abuses, or endangers children, including grooming, sextortion, trafficking of a minor for sex, or otherwise sexually exploiting a minor.
  • CSAM (Child Sexual Abuse Material): any visual depiction (photo, video, or computer-generated imagery) involving a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct. CSAM is illegal and strictly prohibited.
  • Minor / Child: any person under the age of 18.

4. Prohibited conduct

The following are strictly prohibited on Hey and will result in immediate action, including account termination and reporting to the relevant authorities:

  • Creating or attempting to create an account by anyone under 18;
  • Uploading, sharing, requesting, or soliciting CSAM;
  • Grooming, sextortion, trafficking, or any sexual solicitation of a minor;
  • Any attempt to contact, meet, or exploit a minor through the service;
  • Impersonating a minor or presenting oneself as a minor.

5. Age policy and preventive measures

Hey is an adults-only (18+) service. To prevent access by minors and reduce risk, we apply measures including:

  • Age gating at registration - users must enter their date of birth when they sign up and are blocked from creating an account if they are under 18;
  • Account termination of any account found to belong to a minor;
  • Moderation of profiles and user-generated content;
  • User reporting and blocking tools available within the app (see Section 6);
  • Retention and deletion controls to remove prohibited content and accounts.

6. In-app reporting and user feedback

Every Hey user can, without leaving the app:

  • Report another user, a profile, a photo, or a message that raises a child-safety concern;
  • Block another user to stop all further contact.

Reports concerning child safety are prioritised for review. Users may also contact us directly at privacy@sayheynow.com to raise child-safety concerns.

7. Responding to CSAM and CSAE

When we obtain actual knowledge of CSAM or CSAE on Hey, we act in accordance with these standards and applicable law. Our response includes:

  • Removing the offending content;
  • Terminating the responsible account(s);
  • Preserving relevant evidence as required by law;
  • Reporting confirmed CSAM to the competent authorities and/or relevant reporting body.

We do not tolerate any attempt to circumvent these measures.
